Activating Prior Knowledge

As reading teachers, we do a numerous amount of activities that are intended to activate a student's prior knowledge or schema while they read. Activities such as book walks and making predictions help a student prepare for reading. Another such activity is story impressions

Story Impressions

Story impressions are an idea for pre-reading in which a student's curiosity is peaked and story content is predicted. Story impressions (coined in 1987 by McGinley & Denner) use key words that are aligned with setting, characters, and events to allow students the opportunity to create their own version of the story prior to reading (Vacca, et al., 2021).

Here's my story impression. Can you predict the text based on the key vocabulary provided?

Check back on March 12th for the answer!
